World Peace Stupa Center Winterswijk
After nearly 20 years, the dream of having a Nyingma retreat center between the two Nyingma City Centers in Amsterdam and Cologne is coming true. It now comes with the unique opportunity to build a World Peace Stupa. The plan for a small retreat center in Winterswijk was just finalized as Tarthang Tulku announced his World Peace Stupa Project. It is Tarthang Tulku’s wish to build World Peace Stupas on four continents — in South America, Japan, the Middle-East and Europe. The World Peace Stupa for Europe is now planned in Winterswijk, perfectly located at the Dutch-German border.
New Foundation
Together, the Nyingma Centers in Germany and the Netherlands have established a new, independent foundation under the spiritual guidance of Tarthang Tulku: the World Peace Stupa Center Europe Foundation. This foundation will establish the Stupa Center Winterswijk.
Purchase of the location
The foundation found a beautiful location at Kreilweg 1 in Winterswijk. A purchase agreement is being prepared with preliminary permission to build a stupa as a condition. This will be the perfect place for retreats and projects, and eventually also for the World Peace Stupa. But first, we need to finance the purchase of the property at Kreilweg 1. The cost is approximately €1.4 million, and the financing plan is as follows:
- Mortgage bank loan: €700,000
- Bond loan: €200,000
- Donations: €100,000
- Private loans: €400,000 (of which €320,000 has already been pledged)
