World Peace Stupa Project

National Landscape

The World Peace Stupa Center Europe will be situated in a quiet spot of the beautiful National Landscape Winterswijk, near the German border. It is a secluded and small-scale agricultural landscape with woodlands, brooks, and historical high fields. It is one of the most quiet and unspoiled areas in the Netherlands. The region is rich in many species of wild plants and animals and has fourteen different nature reserves.

Facilities

The facilities consist of 12 guest rooms, a spacious shared living room, dining room and library. We will be constructing a meditation room in one of the farmhouses. There are 2 professional kitchens, 2 dorms and 3 bedrooms for volunteers and other guests.

Outside are spacious grounds for relaxation, gardening and meeting each other. Various private spots will be created for quiet reflection. The residential community will live in the main farmhouse, the tiny house and two studios next to the guest rooms.

Stupa open to the public

The World Peace Stupa will be erected sheltered by trees in the garden area behind the property. The stupa will be open to the public on certain days and hours, and people of all faiths will be welcome.

Around the stupa will be a meditation garden with secluded benches and a covered walkway for circumambulation. In the main season there will be held a daily practice where visitors, guests and residents can participate.

Food forest

In the near future 2 extra ha of adjoining land will be purchased for establishing a food forest with a pond and meditation spots. The food forest project will be integrated in the various programs and volunteers, company teams and neighbors will all be welcome to participate in planting, harvesting and preserving.

Hiking, cycling or a forest bath

The Stupa Center forms a perfect backdrop for hiking and cycling. There are various beautiful routes starting right from our doorstep. A little gravel road leads you directly into the forest, providing a perfect place for a peaceful, refreshing forest bath. In the future the World Peace Stupa may become an inspiring resting point in several official hiking or bicycle trails.
